The national tractor trailer school established in 1971 has been successfully training men and women to be commercial truck drivers for over 40 years. All the relevant commissions and institutions approve the accredited courses and those who qualify get financial aid. The license received at the end of the training period qualifies the student to be a commercial truck driver.
The two schools, one in Syracuse, NY and the other in Liverpool, NY offer different courses whose modules include license permit preparation, hands on training, labs, etc. The 602-hour advanced course is for those with little or no experience in operating commercial vehicles. The student will learn all the skills that will enable him to be a tractor-trailer and truck driver and a productive employee. There is also a shorter 320-hour course similar to the long duration one. The 178.5 hour course is only for Buffalo and is a basic driver course that is ideal for those who have commercial driving experience and want additional training. The 90-hour heavy driver course is yet another course designed and structured for those with no heavy truck experience. Thousands of people from different backgrounds and all lifestyles have benefited from these courses and are enjoying a successful career.
Every person absorbs and learns at his own pace and realizing this fact, they have structured the course to help every student learn the theory and practical application effectively. The theory class is the first exposure to driving and everything connected with it, and they are taught with manual, CDL, logs, road atlas along with textbooks. There are demonstration classes after the completion of the theory class and it prepares them for practical training. The instructors use shifting simulators and various types of equipment for the practical application sessions. In these sessions, the students, under the guidance of a supervisor, get to drive the trucks. All these procedures are done throughout the course thus ensuring each student becomes an efficient and competent driver and is able to find employment without any difficulty.
The faculty and staff are dedicated and efficient and the student will complete the course satisfactorily. Applying for the course can be done online as well through email or over the phone. A few of the eligibility criteria include being 18 years of age and having a high school diploma or something equivalent to it. Each student must have a valid driver’s license, pass physical requirements and must be drug-free. To be employed, he must also meet certain requirements of the department of transportation. The students get all the required help to find jobs, prepare job applications and attend interviews. Placement officers help them find the right job.
Many top carriers across the country contact them for graduates. Recruiting coordinators and managers of Wadhams Enterprises, Dot Foods, Wolding Transportation, Werner Enterprises, Swift Transportation, JB Hunt and many other corporations have worked with the national tractor trailer school for a long time. The frequency with which they recruit drivers from this institute to drive fuel trucks, dump trucks, straight delivery trucks and all kinds of heavy trucks is a testimony to the quality of the drivers who graduate from here.
